The birth and origin of our passion and enthusiasm for United started already 40 years ago.
The little boy Karl "Charlie" Schmoll was used to get called George Best from his father, during endless football afternoons in the garden. His father called him this way because of the similarity the boy was dressed – huge shorts and shirts were the hallmark of George Best, like the one of Charlie. He didn't know exactly what his father was talking about, but he started to dream of United and to see them play one day.
1984 was the first milestone in Charlie´s United "career". He saw his first match at Old Trafford - a 4:2 victory over Arsenal. He made pen friends and got in contact with United Supporters.
His small neighbourhood boy Mario S. was the first one to get in touch with Charlie´s passion for United. After a few talks and a journey to Old Trafford, Mario S. has become a Red-Devil. Many trips to Old Trafford followed.
During this time Charlie tried to establish a ManUtd Supporters Club in Austria, but he wasn't successful. United were in the shadow of their rivals Liverpool who dominated English and European Football in the Eighties, and so wasn't able to find many United Fans in Austria.
A few years later, in the mid-nineties Charlie trained a youth-team of the local Football-Club Leonhofen. He tried his best and could infect some of his boys with the United-"virus".
The absolute highlight during this time was a journey to the origin of football, where his team played two games against Ipswich Town and FC Everton, but the most important point was ManUtd. They watched a Training session, made an Old Trafford Tour and purchased almost everything in the Megastore. From this moment on, Hannes, Mario R, Bernhard and Christoph were absolutely thrilled by United.
Numerous orders of United merchandising and afternoons and evenings in front of the telly watching United have followed.
In January 2008 Mario R. got his first chance to see United play at Old Trafford, seeing them beat Tottenham in the FA Cup by 3 goals to 1.
A lot of things have changed since the beginning. Players like Best, Charlton or Law under the regime of Sir Matt Busby are gone, the likes of Cantona, Keane, Giggs, Beckham, Rooney and Ronaldo under the regime of Sir Alex Ferguson have fired United to glory in Domestic and International Football in the last two Decades.
